New Medical Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology
Professor Patrick Schuler is the new Medical Director of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at Heidelberg University Hospital. One focus of his work will be in research and treatment of tumors of the head and neck area. At the University Hospital and the National Center for Tumor Diseases NCT Heidelberg, Schuler meets a large circle of experts in cancer medicine, from basic research and diagnostics to treatment with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy as well as newer methods with immune and cell therapies. Professor Schuler complements the oncological focus at the University Hospital with his broad expertise ranging from robot-assisted tumor surgery to modern immunotherapeutic therapy concepts.
“Ear, nose and throat medicine is so interesting because it is so versatile. It offers the opportunity to work both surgically and conservatively. Our patients suffer from various tumors, they have problems with hearing, speaking, smelling or swallowing and come at any age,” says Schuler, describing the fascination his field holds for him.
