Heidelberg University Hospital expands its medical services: Kidney Center to be integrated

The Heidelberg Kidney Center has been in existence for 50 years and has been located on the Heidelberg hospital campus in the immediate vicinity of the Medical and Surgical Clinic for 20 years.

The Kidney Center has an excellent international reputation in the fields of kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, acute kidney failure, diabetic nephropathy and the role of the kidney in the development of hypertension. Around 2,000 inpatients and around 13,000 outpatients are treated at the specialist clinic each year. 

“We are delighted that nephrology will be an even greater addition to the University Hospital's medical portfolio in future. Patients will benefit from this,” says the Deputy Medical Director of Heidelberg University Hospital.
